In short

Who we are

Pianuvo (pianuvo.com) is a piano-learning web app made by Haynes Integrations. This policy explains what information is involved when you use it. Contact details are at the end of this page.

Information stored on your device

Pianuvo has no user accounts and no database of users. Everything you enter or earn is saved in your browser's local storage on the device you are using:

This information is not sent to us or to anyone else. It stays on the device until you delete it, either with Settings → Reset in the app, by clearing this site's data in your browser, or by removing the app from your home screen. Because it lives only on one device, your progress does not follow you to another device unless you move it yourself with Settings → Backup, which saves a file to your device that you can import elsewhere.

To work offline, the app also stores its own files (code, music and piano sounds) in your browser's cache. These contain no personal information.

Pianuvo Academy data

The optional Academy (theory, ear training and repertoire study) keeps its data on your device too: lesson results, your practice log, weekly reflections, any pain or tension notes you choose to record, and, if you use the recording feature, your own microphone recordings. Recordings are stored in your browser on this device only. They are never uploaded or shared, and because of their size they are not included in backup files. You can play or delete each recording on the Academy Progress screen, and a learner's recordings are deleted when you reset that learner's progress or delete the learner. The other Academy data is saved in your browser's local storage, is included in Settings → Backup, and is removed by Settings → Reset or by clearing this site's data. In the Academy, ads appear only on the "Lesson finished" screen and at the bottom of the Academy home page, never during a lesson, an exercise, the placement check, review or practice.

Study group

The Academy's optional study group runs without a server. Nothing is sent to Pianuvo. A group is an invite code, and a weekly check-in is a short code that you copy and send to your friends yourself (by message or email). A check-in contains only what you choose to share: your display name, the week, and your practice days and minutes, plus your unit progress and finished pieces if you switch those on. Everything is off by default. Friends' check-ins that you paste in are stored on this device, in your Academy data, and are removed when you leave the group. Recordings are never part of a code and never leave your device unless you download one and send it yourself.

Microphone

If you choose to play on a real piano, Pianuvo asks for permission to use your microphone. The sound is analysed in real time on your device, only while you are practising a piece, to work out which notes are being played. It is not recorded, stored, or sent to us or any third party. (The only exception is the Academy's optional recording feature, which saves a recording you start yourself on your device only; see above.) You can turn microphone access off at any time in the app or in your browser or device settings.

MIDI keyboards

If you connect a MIDI keyboard, the app reads the notes you play on your device. The device's name is shown in the app and is not sent anywhere.

Advertising

The website shows ads from Google AdSense on its written article pages only: the beginner guides under /guides/, the written Academy lessons and the song pages that have background notes. At most two ads appear on a page, between sections of the article and after it. The app itself (the player, the song path, the Academy, its lessons, exercises, placement check, review and practice) shows no ads at all.

Pianuvo itself does not see who views or clicks an ad, and shares no information about you with advertisers.

Hosting and server logs

The website is delivered through Cloudflare and our web server. Like any website, these receive standard technical information when your browser requests a page, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. This is used only to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix problems. We do not use it to identify you or build profiles, and we do not sell it. To protect the site, Cloudflare may also run automatic security checks in your browser (for example, to tell people from bots) and may set a strictly necessary security cookie. Cloudflare Web Analytics also counts page views for us: it uses no cookies, does not track you across sites and does not build a profile of you; we only see totals such as how many pages were viewed and from which countries. Cloudflare's handling of this data is described in its privacy policy.

Children

Pianuvo can be used by learners of any age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children: names and progress stay on the device, and there is no way to send us information through the app. Ad requests are marked for child-directed treatment and non-personalised ads, as described above. Parents and guardians can review or delete everything Pianuvo has stored at any time from the app's Settings.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal information about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on our side. All of your Pianuvo data is on your own device and under your control. For information Google holds in connection with ads, use the Google links above. If you have a question or request, contact us below.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
